Guan (观) — AI Companion for Self-Awareness and Inner Growth

Guan is built by Insparian OÜ. This policy explains what data Guan collects, how it is handled, and what control you have over it.
We built Guan with a simple principle: your inner world is yours. We designed the app so that we cannot read your conversations, and we have no interest in changing that.
What Data Stays on Your Device
Guan stores the following data locally on your device using encrypted storage:
- Your conversation messages
- Your personal profile (built from your conversations over time)
- Conversation context that helps Guan remember across sessions
- App preferences and settings
This data is encrypted on your device. We do not have access to it. We cannot retrieve it. If you delete the app or use the “Delete All Data” option in Settings, this data is permanently erased.
What Data Leaves Your Device
When you send a message, Guan sends the following to an AI model provider through our secure server:
- Your recent conversation messages (needed for the AI to respond)
- A summary of your conversation history (so the AI can remember context across sessions)
- Your user profile (so the AI can reference things you’ve shared before)
What does NOT leave your device:
- Your name, email, or any account information (Guan does not require an account)
- Your device identifiers
- Your location
- Your contacts or other app data
Our Server
Our server acts as a pass-through. It receives your message, attaches the credentials needed to reach the AI model, forwards the request, and returns the response. Our server does not store your conversation content. It does not log your messages. It exists solely to keep authentication credentials secure and off your device.
AI Model Provider
Guan uses a third-party AI model to generate responses. When your messages are sent to the AI provider:
- They are used to generate a response to your message
- They are not used to train the AI provider’s models
- They are subject to the AI provider’s data handling policies
We select AI providers that do not train on API inputs. If we change providers, we will update this policy. The current provider’s data policies are available upon request.
Analytics
Guan collects anonymized, non-personal analytics to understand how the app is used:
- App opens
- Number of messages per day (count only, not content)
- Conversation duration
- Technical performance metrics
- Crash reports
We never collect, transmit, or store the content of your conversations on our servers.
Crisis Resources
If Guan detects that you may be in crisis (for example, expressing thoughts of self-harm), it will show crisis support resources including phone numbers for your region. This detection happens locally within the AI’s response. No crisis-related data is flagged, stored, or transmitted to us.
Children
Guan is not designed for or directed at anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child is using Guan, please contact us.
Your Rights and Control
You have full control over your data:
- View your data: Your conversation and profile data are visible within the app at all times.
- Delete all data: Use “Delete All Data” in Settings to permanently erase everything stored on your device. This action is irreversible.
- Export your data: (Coming in a future update) You will be able to export your full conversation history and growth records.
- No account required: Guan does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in.
Because we do not collect or store your personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete on our end. Your data lives on your device and nowhere else.
Data Security
- Local data is encrypted using industry-standard encryption, with keys stored in your device’s secure hardware.
- Communication between the app and our server uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- Our server does not persist any user data.
What Guan Is Not
Guan is an AI companion for self-exploration and emotional support. It is not a medical device, therapist, counselor, or diagnostic tool. It does not provide therapy, treatment, diagnosis, or medical advice. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please contact emergency services or a crisis hotline in your region.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and note the new effective date. For significant changes, we will notify you within the app.
